What is Trellix Locate?

Trellix Locate is an IoT platform that allows users to locate and manage assets within their spaces. It helps in optimizing the workforce and processes by locating assets in real-time.

What devices do I need to have to use Trellix Locate?

Trellix Locate requires:

• Trellix Enterprise / virtual server
• Wireless area controllers
• BLE enable integrated sensors / BLE tile mount sensors
• Cooper Tags

What do the Locate APIs offer?

It allows you to control WaveLinx asset management systems through custom, third-party applications.

Will I be charged for using the Locate APIs?

Using the Locate APIs are free for use.

What user permissions do I need to use the Locate APIs?

A user will need the “Locate API” global permission and access to Trellix Locate. The default user roles “Locate Third Party Integration” or “System Administrator” have the global permission “Locate API”.

Can I try out the Locate APIs without a physical installation?

No. A physical, working setup is required to make all our API’s useful.

How do I connect to my Trellix Core through the APIs?

Ensure the following:

• You should have the IP address of the Trellix system
• Connect to the network that your Trellix system is hosted on
• You also need the username and password of a user with the “Lighting API” global permission
• Use the above with the Get Login Token API to get the authentication token

How do I get the authentication token to use all the Locate APIs?

Ensure the following:

• You should have the IP address of the Trellix system
• Connect to the network that your Trellix system is hosted on
• You also need the username and password of a user with the “Lighting API” global permission
• Use the above with the Get Login Token API to get the authentication token

How do I use the authentication token?

Include the authentication token generated from the Get Login Token API in the header parameter “Authorization” The authentication token lasts for 7199s or about 2hrs from when it was generated.

Can I refresh expiration time for the authentication token?

Yes. You need to use the Get Refresh Token API and use the refresh token generated with the Login Token API in the header parameter “Authorization”.

Can I return the location all assets based on the building, floor, area, zone, and geo-fence?

You can return all assets in the Trellix system, but you cannot return all assets for a specific building, floor, area or a geo-fence.

You can return all assets in the Trellix system, but you cannot return assets for a specific building, floor, area or geo-fence.

Can I listen in on alarm events as they happen in real-time with the Locate APIs?

Yes. Please refer to section 8 of the Locate document for “Real-time operating data using TCP socket and REST”.

Can I return a list of alarms based on the location the alarm occurred?

No. You can only return a list of alarms based on asset type, department, and a single asset.

Where do I find all the public IDs for buildings, floors, areas, zones, devices, endpoints, assets, tags, and geo-fences?

For assets and tags:

• Navigate to Admin -> System -> Published API -> Published API for Locate -> Export Public ID
• For buildings, floors, areas, zones, devices, and endpoints:
• Navigate to Admin -> System -> Published API -> Published API for Lighting -> Export Public ID
• There are no pubic IDs for geo-fences

Can I get the public IDs for assets, tags, and geo-fence through the Locate APIs?

Refer to section 4 in the Locate API documentation for Configuration calls, which provide APIs to return information on assets, tags, and geo-fences.
